Album Review: Zac Brown Band – Uncaged

Zac Brown Band keeps up their usual upbeat southern-themed music on Uncaged, their latest in two years. The record kicks off with the feel good “Jump Right In”. The title track follows, a southern rock tinged tune celebrating a country summer. Bluegrass influences “The Wind” about the struggle of a long distance relationship. These songs capture the usual sounds that influence the band, including the reggae track, “Island Song” the perfect theme for a Jamaican vacation.
Uncaged contains some features too. One is “Overnight” featuring Trombone Shorty, a smooth, easy-listening type groove. The other is “Day That I Die” featuring Amos Lee, about wanting to leave a good mark on earth once you’re gone.
The record has songs perfect for mainstream country radio and true country music fans. And a good balance of fun, upbeat tunes and more mellow ballads.
